ACT Alliance - that’s us

UPDATED: October 27, 2009

ACT International has unified with ACT Development from 1, January 2010 under a new name, ACT Alliance. The new organization will expand our potential as churches and related organizations to better respond to emergencies, increase our collaboration in development work, and provide a shared voice for advocacy.

The formal launch of the ACT Alliance has been planned for the 24, March 2010. Renewal of membership for all existing members of ACT International and participants of ACT Development is in process with currently 55 members approved for membership and 26 others still pending and under review. Another round of review of applications will take place in early February in readiness for the next Board meeting scheduled for the 15th and 16th February. The new website for the ACT Alliance is under construction and will be ready in February 2010. The inaugural General Assembly for the ACT Alliance is planned for October 2010.

The launch of ACT Alliance will be decentralised and member organisations are being encouraged to mark and celebrate the launch of the ACT Alliance by carrying out launch events, in locations where they have offices, where they work and in conjunction with other members in ACT Forums.

A centre-piece for the launch communications is a video. It will be a hi-energy, musical video with percussion-only rhythms from around the world, showing people we work with, dancing to Samba sounds and with an aim to bring all of us together as one family.

All members will co-brand with ACT Alliance. Their own logo will always be presented together with the new ACT Alliance logo.

The launch of the ACT Alliance will be marked in the Ecumenical Center in the presence of media, invited officials from UN bodies, Non-Governmental Organizations , and diplomats. An idea to have a special liturgy in the chapel of the center is being explored.
