2004, Hurricane Jeanne lashed northern parts of Haiti with heavy rains
causing extensive damage and flooding in urban and rural areas, particularly
in the north-west in the Artibonite Provinces. Gonaives, the fourth
main city in Haiti, was severely affected by flooding and mudslides
which destroyed large areas of the city and its surrounding communities.
ACT members in
Haiti, the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and Diakonie
Emergency Aid (DEA) requested support from the ACT Alliance to
respond to this emergency and an ACT appeal was issued on 5 October
2004. ACT members in Haiti are now requesting a revision of the appeal
to accommodate the following changes: Lutheran World
